10 of 10 people found the following review helpful Looks nice but flaws in design, October 20, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel Zen 1-2/3-Quart Teakettle, Cobalt (Kitchen) I read the reviews and have to say that the negative comments are correct. The whistle is very faint and you have to really listen for it. Another serious flaw is that it drips as you are pouring the water out, necessitating me to pour over the sink. Otherwise, I have a little bit of a water mess to clean up. I've tried reducing the amount of water in the tea pot but it does the same thing. On the up side, it does look very elegant on my stove and has a very modern design. But for the price and the reputation of the company, I would have expected a more functional product.

Tea Kettle, October 21, 2009 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel Zen 1-2/3-Quart Teakettle, Cobalt (Kitchen) This producut arrived promptly from Amazon and was well-packaged. I love the cobalt blue color and the shape. It heats water quickly and pours without any splashing or spurting. However, the whistle is almost useless. It make a 'small'' sound that can't be heard in the next room. Fortunately, I don't need it to do so. And, the handle gets warm enough that I use a pot holder. The last Le Creuset kettle I had rusted inside, and the enamel around the spout and lid did the same. So, at the end of the day I now wipe it dry in and out. I now have the time for this, but others may not.

The result is a more pleasant and comforting tea experience. Not only do you drink the tea sooner, it tastes much better when the water is at a full boil. The whistle on this teakettle is amusing and you may have to adjust the temperature to get just the right whistle. Boiling the water too slowly produces a funny "who is that whistling" in my kitchen experience. At full boil, it gets your attention, but is never irritating. If you are really careful, you can remove the whistle and pour the water out immediately, but waiting a few seconds is probably advised.
The handle is very sturdy, unlike other teakettles that swing about as if you were not about to pour boiling water. This one feels very safe and the lid also fits very securely so there is no steam escaping out of the top and... Read more
