24 of 24 people found the following review helpful Nice kettle but mine had black residue inside, October 5, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Demeyere Resto 2.6-qt. Stainless Steel Whistling Kettle (Kitchen) As far as kettles go, this one is great.
Demeyere is a Belgian brand, but this kettle was made in Asia. It doesn't bother me but just know that it is not made in Belgium. It uses 18/10 stainless steel, unlike the 18/8 or lower grade stainless steels popular in cheaper kitchen items.
Everything on the kettle is metal, which means everything gets hot when you boil water. Thankfully the handle is just barely warm to the touch, but the whittling knob gets scorching hot so watch out! I actually changed out the knobs with these plastic knobs Le Creuset Replacement Knob.
My particular kettle had some black chips (looked like paint chips) inside when I received it. It must be something leftover from the manufacturing process, and I was very disappointed to find it. And there are some crevices inside the kettle where... Read more
9 of 10 people found the following review helpful WAS a great tea kettle, December 15, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Demeyere Resto 2.6-qt. Stainless Steel Whistling Kettle (Kitchen) This is a very heavy (as in, well made, solid) tea kettle with a great whistle. the handle stays cool but you want a pot holder to take the whistle off. It's great looking (not traditional) and we think, beautiful. We like that it has a lid to put water into and you can reach your whole fist in to clean.
The seller took a long time (we could tell it wasn't shipped by Amazon) but the kettle itself is great :-).

I'm editing this because we ended up not liking this kettle very much. The handle DOES get hot sometimes and you definitely need a pot-holder to take the whistle thingie off to pour the hot water out. BUT, the reason I'm shopping today is after 12 months the handle broke off!! :-( Yes, it took a short tumble onto a carpeted surface recently but we sure don't think that was enough to warrant the handle falling off when my husband picked it up today.
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Wonderful product, June 4, 2010 By PqP (Cambridge, MA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Demeyere Resto 2.6-qt. Stainless Steel Whistling Kettle (Kitchen) This is the highest-quality kettle I have seen on the market. Thick solid surgical stainless steel, impressive encapsulated bottom for induction cooking (personally, I use it on a gas stove). Magnificent workmanship.
You get a 30-year warranty for home use (10 for commercial use). I don't know what such a warranty actually means... but for me it certainly means this will probably be the only piece of cookware that'll be fit to be passed on to the next generations as a treasured heirloom. It's that good.
